Data Privacy
Data Privacy Act of 2012
Republic Act No. 10173, otherwise known as the Data Privacy Act is a law that seeks to protect all forms of information, be it private, personal, or sensitive. It is meant to cover both natural and juridical persons involved in the processing of personal information. The Data Privacy Act applies to any natural or juridical persons involved in the processing of personal information. It also covers those who, although not found or established in the Philippines, use equipment located in the Philippines, or those who maintain an office, branch, or agency in the Philippines.
Data Privacy Code of Conduct
Students and their parents and/or guardians should exercise caution when handling personal information online, especially when it comes to minors or sensitive personal information. For this reason, they are always encouraged to adhere to the following practices:
a. When sharing or disclosing personal information online, care should be taken to ensure that the data are sent or transferred to the correct or appropriate recipient(s). Always check the recipient's email address and all attachments.
b. Online login information (e.g. username and password) to platforms or accounts owned or managed by the school must be protected at all times. They should not be shared with unauthorized people.
c. Unless consent is obtained from all concerned, students are prohibited from:
Taking screenshots or recording virtual sessions, especially if the images include others such as classmates, teachers, parents, and guardians.
Taking screenshots of messages and other forms of communication with other students or teachers.
Sharing photos or communications recorded or taken with others, or post them in public places such as social media sites.
Data Privacy Notice
In accordance with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) mandate to protect and promote the right to and access to quality basic education, Don Bosco Technical Institute collects various data and information, including personal information, from various subjects using different systems.
In the processing of these data and information, DBTI is committed to ensure the free flow of information as required under the Freedom of Information Act (Executive Order No. 2, s. 2016) and to protect and respect the confidentiality and privacy of these data and information as required under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).
Request for data and information, unless access is denied when such data and information fall under any of the exceptions enshrined in the Constitution, existing law or jurisprudence.
Only authorized DBTI personnel have access to personal information collected, the exchange of which will be facilitated through email and web applications. These will be stored in a database in accordance with government policies, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information DBTI holds about you, as well as the right to ask for its correction, if found erroneous, or deletion on reasonable grounds. You may contact dbtarlaclistens@one-bosco.org.
